How often do you notice light as you go about your daily activities?
Do you seek out and observe the subtle hues of light as the sun dances across the sky or as she rises or sets? I love light! I think all artists do. For sure light is a key ingredient in any painting. Helena is a small city with lots of heavenly light and with every shade of light you can imagine, hot pinks, warm golds, cool blues, crimson reds, tangerine orange's and royal purples.
Living under the Big sky here in Montana brings surprise and wonder each new day as I seek to create art that brings meaning and joy to my many patrons.
The abstract painting above, Outback, was commissioned by a dear friend hear in Helena.
It measure 30" x 48"

I love this piece and it is nice to see it hanging!
ReplyDeleteI also am enjoying your question about noticing light. That's a challenge for me these days... to notice anything! But I am going to look for the light around us. Right now in NJ it is kind of a hazy plum.
Emily,
ReplyDeleteHazy Plum I am sure is beautiful. Some of my favorite skies are over the lower Manhatten skyline. Nothing like a sunset glowing on all those glass buildings.
